Provides evaluation and treatment to children and adolescents who may have been physically or sexually abused or neglected. Services include inpatient consultation, telephone consultation for area medical providers, case assessment for children under investigation by DCF and child sexual abuse evaluation. Child life specialist provides age-appropriate preparation for the forensic interview and medical examination in suspected cases of sexual abuse and may also provide direct support of children during the physical examination.

Yale-New Haven Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with Yale University providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical, psychiatric, and emergency services. Healthy Start applications are accepted at the hospital through a New Haven Health Dept. outreach site.
