Provides information, representation and legal counseling on the legal rights of low-income people. Priority areas include: family violence and other aspects of family law; homelessness, eviction, and housing subsidies; all aspects of public benefits including Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), GA/SAGA, TANF, and SSA/SSD/SSI; special education and other services for children with disabilities; elderly issues including nursing home, Medicaid, and consumer problems. Agency can assist undocumented immigrants.

Legal aid organization provides legal counseling and representation to low-income individuals and families in matters relating to civil law. Provides legal representation, brief service, and information in cases involving family violence, divorce, child support and other family matters; special education, and other services for children with disabilities; legal issues related to subsidized rental housing, eviction, and homelessness; representation for people being denied or terminated from public assistance, Social Security, SSI, or other publicly funded programs; employment related issues, and elder issues including Medicaid, nursing home, and consumer problems. Connecticut Legal Services does not represent clients in criminal matters. Services are free for eligible clients.
