Charitable organizations and professional fundraisers register with the Public Charities Unit. Unit can then provide information on all charities registered with the State of Connecticut, including addresses, financial reports, and tax returns of individual charities. This information is available to the public so individuals may make informed decisions regarding charitable contributions. .

State consumer protection agency regulates trade practices, public charities, gaming, liquor and drugs, and inspects and investigates wholesale and retail food establishments, construction sites, children's toy sellers, and commercial establishments which use weighing and measuring devices. Agency also responds to complaints, investigates allegations of fraudulent activities, issues many occupational and professional licenses, reviews the work and qualifications of license holders, and provides information and referral services with regard to consumer issues.
