New entry age guidelines have been adopted in Connecticut for kindergarteners starting the 2024-2025 school year, where children must now be 5 years old on or before September 1st to start kindergarten. Previously, it had been that children needed to turn 5 years old before December 31st of the year they started kindergarten. Families do have the ability to request early entry to kindergarten, but an assessment will need to take place to get that process started, if eligible. Visit the website link below to find a toolkit and other documents to help families understand the change and provide resources to find answers to questions and concerns.
