Note: HUSKY A for Children and State HUSKY B for Children, effective January 1, 2023.These new coverage groups will allow children ages 0-12 who are not citizens or qualified non-citizens (that is, individuals who do not qualify for Medicaid due to immigration status, e.g., those without a legal immigration status or “undocumented” individuals) to receive the equivalent of full Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) benefits, respectively. Connecticut children's HUSKY plan provides health care insurance, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription. The maximum income level to qualify a child for coverage is 323% FPL. - Cost: HUSKY B - 1) Band 1 - for children with family income between 185-235% of FPL - no monthly premium; - 2) Band 2 - for children with family income between 236-323% of FPL, HUSKY B-Tiers 1 and 2 provides, under the HUSKY Plus program, supplemental coverage for intensive physical or behavioral health care needs.
All Connecticut resident children ages 0 through 18; No asset limit; Must be U.S. citizen or have legal resident status; Parent is ineligible if not willing to comply with child support enforcement requirements; Children who have health insurance or who have had health insurance within the previous 2 months may need to apply for an exception in order to be eligible for HUSKY B
As of April 1, 2022 - HUSKY B-Prenatal Care provides health care to pregnant non-citizens; Federal Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) allows states to include unborn children in their CHIP program; This coverage then allows for prenatal care and other health care for pregnant non-citizens who do not qualify for Medicaid; Also included are postpartum visits that occur within 60 days of delivery
Eligible individuals must:
·be pregnant;
·be a non-citizen or immigrant that does not qualify for Medicaid due to immigration status; and
·have a household income up to 263% of the federal poverty level. (For a family of four, up to $72,982 annually.)
Note: Unlike in traditional HUSKY B, there is no age limit or age requirement for this program

Cash or medical insurance programs include Temporary Family Assistance (TFA); State Administered General Cash Assistance (SAGA); State Supplement for the Aged, Blind and Disabled (State Supplement); Medicaid; and other medical expense or personal care assistance programs for special populations. DSS also administers funding for child support enforcement services, energy assistance, rental assistance, emergency housing programs, burial funds for the indigent, and protective services for the elderly.
