PROBATION

The material provided on the 211 eLibrary is for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be and should not be construed as legal advice.

The following is summarized from State of Conn. Judicial Branch Common Legal Terms.

WHAT IS PROBATION?

Probation is when a convicted offender is sentenced to a term of incarceration, but the sentencing judge suspends the sentence. While the sentence is suspended the offender is required to remain under the supervision of a probation officer for a period of time set by the judge.

In Connecticut, juvenile and adult probation is responsibility of the State Judicial Branch through local Superior Courts' probation offices.
