KATIE
BECKETT WAIVER
The Katie Beckett
Waiver, also known as the Deeming
Waiver or the 2176 Model
Waiver, enables severely disabled
children and adults to be cared for at home and
be eligible for Medicaid based on the
individual’s income and assets alone. Without
the waiver, the income of legally liable
relatives is counted when the individual is
cared for at home. There is a long waiting list
for this program, but families of severely
disabled individuals who want to care for their
family member at home are encouraged to apply.
ELIGIBILITY
Severely disabled individuals; Income at or below
300% of the SSI federal benefit rate; Asset limit
is $1000
