ENHANCED 911
DESCRIPTION
Enhanced 911 is a special emergency response system for people with disabilities. When an "enhanced 911" call is received by a 911 dispatcher, the person’s address and pertinent information about that person’s disability is displayed so that the responders are aware of any special needs at that address.

No fee
APPLICATION
2-1-1 screens for service and sends application forms to people who want to register for Enhanced 911
ELIGIBILITY
At least one of the following conditions should be present for eligible individuals:
- On a life support system
- Non-ambulatory
- Blind
- Hearing disabled
- Speech disabled
- Uses a TDD/TTY telecommunication device
- Cognitive impairment
- Psychiatric impairment
OTHER INFORMATION
Enhanced 911 service covers all eligible landline (phones that have a wire to the customer's home) phone customers in Connecticut regardless of which company provides the customer's local phone service. Cellular (wireless/mobile) and internet phone service cannot be accommodated by Enhanced 911.
