BRIDGE SUBSIDY

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR: Conn. Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Bridge Subsidy Program is a state-funded rental assistance program for people with a psychiatric disorder who are at risk of being hospitalized in a DMHAS hospital or who are being discharged from a DMHAS hospital. The Bridge Subsidy provides a monthly housing subsidy payment on a temporary basis, while an individual/family is on a waiting list for permanent state and/or federal subsidy. The Bridge Subsidy is not an entitlement, so availability of funds varies.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: People with a psychiatric disorder at risk of being hospitalized in a DMHAS hospital or who are being discharged from a hospital, and on a waiting list for a permanent rental subsidy.

HOW TO APPLY:Be referred by a mental health clinician to local Bridge Subsidy program; Contact DMHAS Housing Services
